On 19 July 2016, members from the Association of Process Industry (ASPRI) and the Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC) came together for the second Activity Analysis (AA) Seminar. This training seminar was fully subscribed as Dr. Carlos Caldas from Construction Industry Institute (CII) and Dr. Bon-Gang Hwang from the National University of Singapore (NUS) walked the participants through the whole process of Activity Analysis and the benefit it brings to their companies.
Pictures were also shown to interact with the participants to identify which category should the observers put the workers under in order to calculate how many percent of direct work were done during a certain time frame.
After 2 cycles of the AA being conducted, Dr. Hwang also shared on the findings that his team of researchers from NUS found in regards to the percentage of direct work that were done on site.
Koh Yak Boo, Leader of the Pilot Project Workgroup, also encouraged participants to work together in order to increase Productivity on site. Both contractors and plant owners need to collaborate to ensure that we reach the top quartile of productivity and make Singapore a world class Process Industry.
