Annual General Meeting sees six offices uncontested
At ASPRI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Raffles Marina on 18 July 2014 the six key offices were uncontested, while six candidates vied for the remaining three places for committee members of the Executive Council (EC).
The election for the EC, held after the presentation and adoption of all mandatory items on the agenda, was facilitated by Ms Chantal Quek, ASPRI’s General Manager, with two committee members supervising the proceedings and witnessing the counting of votes.
The incumbent President, Mr Charles Quek of HSL Constructor Pte Ltd was re-elected without contest. The five other office bearers elected unopposed were: Mr Francis Tay, Kaoson Integrated Engineering Pte Ltd (Vice President), Mr Thomas Chong, Shao Fook Engineering Pte Ltd (Secretary), Mr Dennis Thomas, Industrial Services Pte Ltd (Asst Secretary), Mr Lim Fung Suan, Mun Siong Engineering Pte Ltd (Treasurer) and Mr Loh Lock Mun, FRP Products Pte Ltd (Asst Treasurer).
Mr. Steven Nah, Shing Leck Engineering Service Pte Ltd and Ms. Huang Wen Jia, CueStar Industry (S) Pte Ltd were returned as committee members, with Mr. Jimmy Chua, Huationg Holdings Pte Ltd, elected to the remaining slot.
A total of 95 representatives from 88 member companies attended the meeting and participated in the voting.
The AGM also saw the attendance of ASPRI’s Founder President Mr Frankie Tan, Chairman and CEO of Hiap Seng Engineering Ltd and Past President Mr Chia Kim Piow, Chairman and Managing Director of Rotary Engineering Limited.
During the AGM, the EC recognized and presented a cheque for S$1,000 to Ms Anizah Bte Ahmad for her 10 years of service with the Association.
An Extraordinary General Meeting earlier preceded the AGM where the Executive Council gave members an update on the preliminary plans for the proposed Association dormitory. Resolutions were passed for the setting up of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the dormitory development and the appointment of trustees.
