ASPRI- NTU Collaboration Visit
Attracting fresh graduated engineering students to join the process industry and retaining them are some of the common challenges faced by most organisations. Therefore, on 18 January, Association of Process Industry (ASPRI) together with Nanyang Technological University Innovation and Enterprise company (“NTUitive” in short) have organised a visit to NTU School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (SCBE) for a group of ASPRI’s blasting and painting members. The group aims to explore ways on how to enhance collaboration on technologies that would trigger the interest of students and expose them to the environment of process industry.
Prof. Xu Rong, Interim Chair, School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering (SCBE) gave a warm welcome to everyone. Prof. Raymond Lau, Associate Chair (Academic) presented SCBE capabilities and invited ASPRI members to work with their students on some projects collaboration. By doing so, the school hopes that the students would be able to appreciate and garner interest to work in the process construction and maintenance (PCM) sector.
Part of the visit has included a tour of SCEB student’s laboratories lead by Prof. Chew Jia Wei. The visit ended in a positive note with a short discussion on further educational site visit to any company who has interest in participating in students’ project engagement.
