Once again, ASPRI HR Working Committee (HRWC) has put up another interesting event to benefit members. ASPRI co-organised a Seminar on enhancing HR Capability for Family-Run Business with Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SCCCI) and BDO Consultants.
Mr. Roger Loo from BDO Consultants shared with members a unique perspective on Asian Family Business. He elaborated on the challenges faced by family businesses such as family conflicts, lack of external views, unwillingness to change and succession problems. Members were entertained with Mr. Roger’s light hearted manner of presenting these serious issues and were delighted to learn some practical methods to deal with these problems.
Mr. Ron Loh from SCCCI introduced some of the government financial assistance schemes, including the latest enhanced Productivity and Innovation Credit (PIC) and Innovation & Capability Voucher (ICV) scheme that was mentioned in Budget 2014. The benefits of these schemes include cash payouts and tax deductions for purchasing systems that will effectively improve their work processes. Members welcomed the schemes and had their enquiry answered by business advisors that were present.
More than 20 participants from 17 companies attended the seminar. Overall, members find the seminar interesting as the topics were relevant to their businesses and were looking forward for topics covering the areas of training & development, productivity improvement, financial management, and internationalisation.
