ASPRI – ITE: Manpower Development Scheme for the Future Economy
On 18 August 2017, ASPRI together with long term partner, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), collaborated and organised a seminar to discuss with ASPRI members on the topic of Manpower Development Schemes.
Mr. Wayne Yap, Executive Director of ASPRI, gave an opening address and shared with the attendees that member companies were facing difficulties to attract local talents into the industry and ASPRI has explored possible solutions to help member companies solve these issues.
Mr. James Goh, Immediate Past President of ASPRI 11th Executive Council, also shared that ASPRI had held 2 Members’ Dialogue on the Non-Core-13 Skillset and updated the attendees on the progress and path forward.
Mr. Ting Kok Guan, Divisional Director, Industry-Based Training from ITE, then shared with more than 50 participants in an interactive manner on some possible solutions and grants available should companies choose to embark on the schemes to curb the issue of getting Singaporean workers into the Process Industry. The following were schemes were shared and below are some of the benefits that members would receive:
ITE also prepared some light refreshment after the event to allow members to interact with one another and also some time to engage with ITE staff who were present to answer any questions that members had regarding the presentation shared.
