The Construction Industry Institute, based at The University of Texas at Austin, is a consortium of more than 130 leading owner, engineering-contractor, and supplier firms from both the public and private arenas. These organizations have joined together to enhance the business effectiveness and sustainability of the capital facility life cycle through CII research, related initiatives, and industry alliances. A learning organization with a wealth of knowledge and information, CII is unique in the engineering and construction industry.
In order to improve productivity in the Process Construction and Maintenance (PCM) sector, government agencies,
together with the Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC) and Association of Process Industry (ASPRI), came
together to form the PCM Management Committee (PCMMC) in 2013. The high level of commitment and broadbased support from the industry led to the formation of Productivity Council in February 2015 with the objective of improving productivity.
The Productivity Council has embarked on a three‐year initiative (2015‐2018) with the CII. Each year, the Productivity Council will work on productivity improvement initiatives, targeted at improving overall productivity in the PCM industry. This fact sheet provides an update on the first year activities of the project.
