Leveraging on Grants & Supports During COVID-19

Leveraging on Grants & Supports During COVID-19

15 July 2020, Singapore - In response to the COVID-19 situation, ASPRI partnered with four Government agencies – SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), Workforce Singapore (WSG), Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF) and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) to introduce the various grants and support available for member companies to leverage on during these challenging times.

Within just a short registration period, about 50 members signed up; denoting their critical and urgent need for assistance during these trying times. Mr. Daniel Ong, Lead of ASPRI’s Knowledge, Education, Experience & Networking (KEEN) Work Group commenced the webinar by establishing an overview of the COVID-19 situation and how it impacted companies financially and individuals mentally.

The first speaker of the day, Ms. Audrey Tay from SSG, provided an in-depth presentation about the benefits of developing a sustainable skill strategy. She classified the strategy into three sub-categories – Immediate-term, Mid-term, and Long-term, while explaining to members the different SSG initiatives they can tap on for each category.

Next, Mr. Ganesh from WSG, shared with the attendees tips and initiatives they can use to become a progressive employer. One of the several initiatives supported by WSG is their ‘Career Support Programme’ where employers can receive salary support when they hire experienced Professionals, Managers, Executives and Technicians (PMETs). Additionally, Mr Ganesh highlighted that employers can use the revamped MyCareersFuture.sg job portal to source for potential candidates for hire.

To supplement Mr. Ganesh’s presentation, Mr. Edmund Lim from SNEF, gave a comprehensive rundown of the ‘P-Max Programme’, catered for Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The programme consists of subsidised workshop trainings and follow-up trainings provided to the PMETs.

The final speaker, Ms. Chen Jia’en from IMDA, shared on their “SMEs Go Digital’ programme which aims to make going digital simple for companies. With the available resources from IMDA, companies can look to increase productivity, manage business costs, seek new revenue opportunities and scale up operations.

Attendees were given the opportunity to clarify most of their doubts with the respective speakers. ASPRI would like to thank the speakers and their respective organisations for their cooperative collaboration. The Association will continue to host such webinars for our members.
